June 5th

I'm back from my morning trip. I saw a fox with road kill in its' mouth along Gilbride Road which is the extension of Mapleward Road. It is amazing how much beach is exposed at Bolduc Bay on Dog Lake. The lake is down about 3 feet from what I can see. About 6 weeks of light rain would bring the level back up.

Up on Leeper in Gillies Township I filmed a partridge strolling down the road. Later I saw of last years fawns exploring the yard here. They survived the winter okay. Now if their mother had taught them to stay out of my garden, that would be great.

I was thinking about the 'Slow Food Movement' which means people buy their fresh veggies and meat with in 50 kms. To me this term is a lonely hitch hiker being eyed by a hungry bear or a single timber wolf.
