October 2010 Archives
saw only 3 deer today on John Street near White Park Road. All creeks up and roaring rerally fast but not overflowing although a lot of beaver dams were broken.
Wind was almost as strong as a tornado. They did say the wind was stronger than the winds that sunk the Edmond Fitzgearald in 1975 on lake Superior.
wow
Fine drizzle coming down all day today. Saw about 200 plus seagulls on Northern Lights Golf courses' hitting rande and about geese on the hitting range at Emerald Greens Golf Course. maybe they found golf balls to sit on to try and hatch. Also 1 little chipmonk racing across 588. He made it safely.
Still have robins around as well as lots of bluejays. Haven't seen any snow chickadees yet.
Kaministiquia River still way down on highway 130.
Finally seen more deer. Actually 4 feed in a farmers field between John and Government Road about 10am this morning on Townline Road. Other than a few ravens and blue jays that was about it.
Hoping to see many more animals and birds as we are going to Silver Islet tomorrrow for the day.
Another day and only seen a squirrel dashing across the road in front of me. Missed him, but was a close call fo him or her.
Seen a flock of geese on thursday near Barrie Drive and highway 130. About 10 minutes earlier i had a black bear cross in front of me on Highway 588 near Silver Creek. Seen 100's of crows on Gratton Road near John Street as well as a Blad Eagle near Oliver Road and Maki Road on wednesday.
Seen 3-4 deer in a yard just west of Mapleward Road and highway 102 going west 3 days in a row.
Most of my contacts are seeing next to nothing.
Seems odd that none of my friends are seeing anything lately. Probably sun tanning with the beautiful weather that we are having. hard to believe it is October , leaves gone in 1 day and temperatures up 90F.
All I have seen is the same skunk near Blaikie Road at 9am and then at 3am walking on the shoulder. Someone taught him how to be safe. On saturday I saw a bald eagle floating over the house and a squirrel this afternoon on ols Silver Mountain Road.
Was out filming and photographing this morning. filmed a brush wolf on Garbutt Road and a deer on Earl Road.
Was also talking a friend this morning and he was saying that Terry Grant was seen near the Cedar Creek area yesterday and was going to be in that area again today. Terry Grant is also known as Manhunter on OLN. I sure wouldn't want to try and outrun him this weekend as it is the first weekend of deer and moose season with guns especially with new hunters. scary situtation. I would like to try and out think and out run him someday. lol.
Enjoy the fall colours while they last and wear bright orange if you must walk in the bush. Be safe and come home alive.
Most of my friends are seeing next to nothing except for a few deer and skunks.
