Went out to Sleeping Giant Provincial Park yesterday. The drive was pleasant with only a few few people out there. Saw 2 deer at Silver islet, 1 deer on the way back at Pickeral lake and 2 more deer at Rita lake. Was a nice drive at 50 kms will nobody pushing me to go faster. Also saw 4 chickadees, and 1 squirrel.

Sibley creek was the only creek open at 587. It was still frozen at Silver Islet. Silver  Islet was open. The Avenue was quiet and a nice drive will no wind coming off Lake Superior. The only other River open was the Mckenzie River at the highway.

This is a very nice drive early in the morning.

Was down for a few days for some odd reason. Almost thought the ailiens or homeland security took my web site over.

Lots to report. On wednesday i went down the Devon Road to see what was open. About 7.8km in a small creek was flowing after being dry last fall. After crossing the Little Whitefish River I folowed fresh wolf tracks for 2 kms. Fresh because there was a light dusting of snow on the road.

Saw 7 bald eagles on John Street about 200 yards past Mapleward Road.

On friday i saw 3 bald eagles. The first near Gratton Road and John Street. the 2nd in Hymers and the 3rd near South Gillies.

off to Sleeping Giant provincial Park today.

saw my first seagul on friday. Always a good sign. Means that the geese are soon arriving bringing warmer weather. Now someone has to tell Mother Nature so she can throw the warmer spring switch on.

The MacIntyre River was covered in slush so start being carefull as there are usually undertows working beneath the thin ice.

Las tsaturday on my way up to Onaman River Resort a saw a bald esgle near Crystal beach Store, a fox in Dorion and some very pretty scenry north of Nipigon.Highway 801 was plowed for 5kms and 41.8kms of unplowed road which is hairy in a 4x4, but try it with a front whell drive Dodge Caravan. Made it there.

Came back out the way I went in yesterday in 6-8 inches of snow. At mileage mark 20k I was able to phtograph 2 moose running on the road in front of me. The snow was half way up their backs as they scrabbled into the bush. Driving was even hairier this time as the road was still not plowed. More adventures coming next week as I head to Goulais Bay.
