More sightings of moose with diseases are being reported to me by my friends.
snowing again. Welcome to the longest winter with no spring and right into fall. really upsetting. Filmed a ground hog yesterday.
After looking closely at the HD Video of the cow moose we determoned it to be an old bull moose. This guy moves really slowly, so watch out for him near Mapleward road and highway 102.
Filmed a cow moose this morning on mapleward Road across from the MTO yard near Highway 102. Also saw about 9 bald eagles on John Street.
A friend on mine is seeing deer every morning between Townline and Mapleward. Another friend of mine in Nolalu saw a bobcat last night on the Devon Road about 1/2 way to highway 61.
Lots of geese along the sides of the roads in ponds.
Just talking with a friend at leppanens' Store and saw 2 snow geese flying over. They were twice the size of a Canada Goose.
waiting for Mother nature to dump more snow on us again. Seems like she is trying to ruin our weekends. Since this snow is coming from Colorado, is that considered FREE TRADE?
Try and have a nice weekend people.
Finally seen my flocks of geese going north this morning. Will be nice to get out and film the little goslings once again.
Another beautiful day to outside in the great NW Ontario. Short sheelve weather. Filmed a creek overflowing its' banks along the Devon Road[highway 693]. Then down to watch the Pigeon river roar over Little Falls. Lots of ice jams above the falls.
Seen 8 deer, 40 plus robins, 3 partridge, and 30 geese as well as ducks and my first 2 flickers. Still waiting for the turkey vulchers and the flocks of geese coming north.
Friday a friend and I went towards kakabeka falls to see what was happening. It is flowing very nice with ice still on the west side of the falls. We saw a bald eagle at the Whitefish River, about 50 robins and a small flock of geese at the CPR tracks on Mud lake Road.
Yesterday we went to Sleeping Giant Prov. Park. First we saw 2 bald eagles just across fro the old spring. Managaed to film 1 of them flying down the road in front of me and then landing in a tree. Then we were off to Silver Islet where we saw a total of 41 deer, a silver fox, an otter on Pickeral lake, many robins, a few partridge, a purple finch and a few geese plus a duck or two.
After talking with a friend who lives year round at Silver Islet since 1992, he informed me that a good friend of his spotted a large cougar crossing the road between Rita lake and Pickeral Lake in late evening in Febuary of this year.
It pays to drive slow through the park. We drove about 45km and saw many deer.
Was out to kakabeka falls this morning. The falls are open with running water over about a 3rd of the falls. Saw 17 robins, pussywillows, a deer on Harstone Road and a partridge on Luckens Road.
The Kaministiquia River is still a way down as their were 3 geese standing on a gravel sand bar near Stanley. Sure hope the water levels come back up as it is starting to get dry with no major spring runoff.
Little falls on Pole Line Road is running now but nothing major. saw a bald eagle and an owl on John Street near mapleward as well.
been busy filming and photographing for past week. Seeing 3-4 bald eagles daily along John Street just past Mapleward Road, deer on John Street near the Can-Op, a few white rabbits, and lots of squirrels and partridge in the Devon Road Area.
Most of the creeks and rivers are starting to open up as well as the water is flowing at Kakabeka falls and on Pole Line Roads little falls.
You can walk on the snow till noon and then you sink as the days heat up.
